Columbus filters use the impact filter principle. They are made of many layers of non-flammable KRAFT paper, which has been appropriately cut and stretched.

The individual layers are arranged so that the flow of the medium through the filter is maximally turbulent. The individual filter layers are superimposed on each other so that the holes through which the air passes are increasingly smaller. The individual layers of KRAFT paper are cut at different angles, thus increasing the surface of contact between the filter and the dust, while allowing for continuous and free evaporation of solvents.
